Kitting and Storage METS team member at the FLRC-Lexington have the task of managing Add on Armor/safety enhancement kits for distribution and further storage of kits that are either excess or waiting the proper installation disposition. Team members store whatever is received and further ship items to CONUS and OCONUS locations for installation. This mission evolved into a spares storage activity as well, most install sites for one reason or another always have extra items left over after the install. Any left over items that are available are shipped to us and reused. Example: Five partial kits are shipped back to the Lexington location. These kits are inventoried and re-kitted. Generally, for a five kit (partial) shipment we receive, we would be able to re-kit at least three. These kits are placed on the shelf for issuance at a later date and the remainder of the parts and or pieces are placed on the shelf to fill shortages in other areas. These kits and process have worked very well in reutilization of RECAP Armor coming from RRAD. Kit storage also includes HEMMTT, M916, MEMMTT Tanker Armor Module (TAM), Avenger Armor and M939 Armor. The majority of the armor has been used to field train sets to CONUS activities needing armored vehicles to train soldiers prior to deployment.
